Hi! My name is Lindsey and I am the soap lady behind Portside Suds. I have always found myself drawn towards a bright, bold aesthetic and I wanted to bring that to soap. Pair that with a passion for scents and you have a pretty good idea what Portside Suds is about. Portside Suds was founded in 2022 after spending a year developing soap bar formulas that I loved to use.
I am a scientist by training, with a PhD in Psychology concentrating in Behavioral and Systems Neuroscience. I applied by scientific background to create two recipes for the bars here at Portside Suds. They are designed to be cleansing, but without the “squeaky clean” feeling. The rich creamy butters will help our bars slip beautifully on your skin. I started researching how the brain processes odors in 2009 and bring my background in olfaction to aim to have a scent for every nose (including fragrance free!).
It is important to me to try to be as low waste as possible. I do not use plastic packaging and try to upcycle things like craft paper to wrap bars as often as I can. This is also why you can only find Portside Suds at local markets and events, to avoid all the packaging that comes along with shipping products. Hope to see you in person soon!
